REPOST--- don't miss your opportunity.
Medicare Open Enrollment
Medicare is our country's health insurance program for people age 65 or older.
Certain people younger than age 65 can qualify for Medicare, too, including
those with disabilities and those who have permanent kidney failure.
When's the Medicare Open Enrollment Period?
Every year, Medicare's open enrollment period is October 15- December 7
What's the Medicare Open Enrollment Period?
Medicare health and drug plans can make changes each year-things like cost, coverage, and what providers and pharmacies are in their networks. October 15- December 7 is when all people with Medicare can change their Medicare health plans and prescription drug coverage for the following year to better meet their needs.
Individual Medical Health Insurance
Open enrollment for Individual Medical Health Insurance is:
Oct. 1 for Off Market
Nov. 1 for On Market (Obamacare)
Choosing a health insurance plan can be complicated. Knowing just a few things before you compare plans can make it simpler.
* The 4 "metal" categories: There are 4 categories of health insurance plans: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. These categories show how you and your plan share costs. Plan categories have nothing to do with quality of care. HealthCare.gov explains these categories.
* Your total costs for health care: You pay a monthly bill to your insurance company (a "premium"), even if you don't use medical services that month. You pay out-of-pocket costs, including a deductible, when you get care. It's important to think about both kinds of costs when shopping for a plan.
* Plan and network types: HMO, PPO, POS, and EPO: Some plan types allow you to use almost any doctor or health care facility. Others limit your choices or change you more if you use providers outside their network.
